Many people consider Bodø to be an underrated gem when it comes to destinations in northern Norway, and it’s a great place to begin a trip to Lofoten islands or northern Norway in general.
One of the great things about Bodø is that it has its own airport, and it’s easy to get to it from any other airport in Norway. But how do you get from the airport to Bodø city center? Walk from Bodø airport to the city center
You can opt to walk to Bodø city center if you want, and this 2 kilometre walk will only take you around 15 to 20 minutes. There are sidewalks for most of the distance, so it’s a safe and pretty flat walk. Perfect for when you travel with only a backpack and want to save some money!
Not only do you save some money, but you also get to explore parts of Bodø on your walk. You will pass by the football stadium which is home to Bodø/Glimt, the current champion football team in Norway.
Drive a car or taxi from the airport to Bodø city center
The travel time from the airport to the city center of Bodø is only about 5 minutes with a car or taxi, so this is a great option. There are car rental agencies on the airport premises, so that’s an option.
There will usually be taxis waiting outside the main entrance of the airport to take any traveler to where they want to go. This is also a decent option, but be aware that taxis are insanely expensive in Norway, and this short 5 minutes drive will cost you several hundred NOK (yes, I’m serious).
If you want to book a taxi ahead of time, call Nordland Taxi at +47 07550 to set up arrangements. The positive side of driving a taxi is that they will take you right to where you need to go, and not only to the city center. That’s a good option if you have booked a room in an AirBnb or something like that a bit outside of the main city, and it’s a bit of hassle to get there by bus.
